Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman in talks to buy stake in Norwich City
Actor Hugh Jackman has revealed he is “very interested” in investing in Norwich City.
The actor, 57, described Norwich as “an exciting team” and said he was a supporter of the club as his mother is from the city.
In an interview with TalkSPORT, he said: “I’m very interested – and talking about it right now.”
Jackman also poked fun at his Deadpool co-star Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham AFC with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, joking that they could soon be rivals in the Championship.
He quipped: “Good on Ryan, you do your thing. I’m all about the Canaries.”
“I think it’s an exciting team, and it’s going to be exciting year,” Jackman added.
“I went to Carrow Road a couple of times, and I love the Canaries, and this is the year we’re going to get promoted. That’s my prediction.
“My prediction is Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year.”
The move would make Jackman the latest star to wade in to the world of football, joining the likes of Reynolds and McElhenney at Wrexham, and NFL legend Tom Brady, who has a stake in Birmingham City.
The sides faced each other in the Championship last week, with Birmingham running out 2-1 victors.
US cook book author Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop Dogg are minority co-owners of Swansea City AFC.
The rapper received an enthusiastic reception when visited the Welsh club for the first time in February, where his seven-minute lap of honour was greeted by the sight of twirling towels – a common spectacle in American sports.
Other celebrities who have invested in football include Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, who has a stake in AFC Bournemouth, US actor and comedian Will Ferrell, who has shares in Leeds United, and chart-topping singer Ed Sheeran is a minority owner of his home club Ipswich Town.
Jackman had previously said he was offered the chance to invest in Norwich in 2010, but turned down the opportunity.
American billionaire Mark Attanasio is the majority shareholder in the club, having bought into the club in 2022 and gradually built up his stake.
In August 2024 Attanasio, who is also the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, took majority control from Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones.
