Lapis One Hands Your AI Agent a Linux Box It Never Has to Share

Pamir AI built Lapis One so an agent can stop borrowing the family laptop. This finished 85 by 85 by 28 millimeter computer weighs 227 grams and looks closer to a small consumer gadget than a development board you still have to case. Painted white aluminum or anodized black aluminum wraps a plastic top shell. A Sharp 240 by 400 monochrome memory LCD sits on the face, the same low-power panel family used in Panic’s Playdate, so status lines and task notes can stay visible all day without chewing through the 3,300 mAh battery.

The Lapis One is powered by Rockchip’s RK3576 chip, which includes four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, as well as a 6 TOPS neural unit for local inference. The unit comes preloaded with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory and 64GB of eMMC storage. An M.2 2230 slot and a microSD bay that can accommodate cards up to 2TB provide additional expansion options. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC provide wireless communication, with voice input handled by a set of dual MEMS microphones, a 1 watt speaker, and an XMOS audio DSP. There’s also a fingerprint sensor, an IMU, and three physical controls: a power button, a rocker switch, and a fingerprint sensor button.

Four USB-C connections split the duty, with one capable of handling USB Power Delivery, pushing DisplayPort output to 4K at 30 frames per second, and moving data at SuperSpeed. A second connection is marked as the Agent KVM, which allows you to connect a cable to another computer and have the Lapis One capture that screen at up to 1080p or 2K resolution at 30 frames per second while also acting as a keyboard and mouse. There is no need to install anything on the target PC. Two additional ports can be used for drives, printers, or extra boards, and they share 5 Gbps SuperSpeed. There’s also a magnetic 12-pin GPIO connector that allows you to connect to UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC, and power, allowing you to communicate with an ESP32, a shift register, or even a label printer.

Lapis OS is based on Debian 13 and Linux 6.1, with the system core being read-only and certified by dm-verity. User data is encrypted using LUKS2 and sealed to a TPM 2.0 chip. Signed A/B updates will allow you to roll back to a previous OS version if a release fails. In terms of features, the device comes pre-installed with root access, apt, the Nix package management, and a Python SDK for the hardware. If you need to keep a check on things remotely, Tailscale is included, which means you can access the Lapis One from anywhere using your phone, laptop, or even an SSH session. According to the official documentation, the Lapis One supports a variety of agent platforms, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and DeepSeek.

Battery life ranges from two to four hours, depending on how often you use it. The creators of Pamir truly intend for you to unplug the desk cable and carry the unit around to another room, as the agent session will just keep going. Early bird pricing is $359, which is a significant discount off the $599 regular price. In terms of availability, the first white units will be delivered in October 2026 in a batch of 140 units, with bigger production planned for December. In terms of accessories, the GPIO cable is already included, and an extra USB-C cable is available for $19. If you need to return the unit, you must request an RMA within 14 days after delivery.
