Nine dead in Makkasan Airport train and bus fireball crash as ‘explosions’ heard

Emergency crews are currently dealing with the horror incident near Airport Link Makkasan Station in Bangkok, Thailand earlier today – at least nine people have been killed

At least nine people have been killed and multiple injured after a freight train and bus crash erupted into a fireball. The incident happened near Airport Link Makkasan Station in Bangkok, Thailand earlier today.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show intense flames as thick plumes of smoke billow into the air. One image shows just the frame of a burnt out bus in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Emergency crews are currently dealing with the horror incident on Asok-Din Daeng Road between Rama IX and Asok Phet intersections. It is understood that motorbikes may also have been involved in the collision.

Locals reported hearing “small explosions” after the impact. Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of casualties or the cause of the collision.

Members of the public have been told to avoid the area.
