A young woman has sustained devastating brain injuries after plummeting from a balcony while allegedly trying to escape being sexually assaulted by a group of men. The victim is believed to have fallen from the second floor of a flat building in Germany while attempting to escape the five unidentified suspects, as reported by Bild.
Local police have confirmed an investigation is in progress. Emergency services, including police, paramedics and the fire brigade, rushed to the building on Senftenberger Straße at 3:15am on Tuesday.
It’s reported that the woman had been assisted back into her flat by the five men. Given the seriousness of her injuries, an emergency doctor vehicle was dispatched before the woman was hurried to hospital, reports the Mirror.
Medics stated the victim had suffered traumatic brain injuries. She is still undergoing treatment. Police sources confirmed to Bild that a potential sexual offence had taken place inside the flat and was under investigation.
Officers have conducted searches at the property as part of their inquiry.
Forensic examiners gathered samples from the scene on Wednesday, but police haven’t dismissed the possibility that the suspected culprits could have tried to destroy existing evidence.
