Two freight trains collided on a railway bridge in Munich, Germany, sending two wagons plunging onto the street below – one person was killed in the horror collision

Two freight trains crashed on a railway bridge in Germany during the night, authorities confirmed on Saturday. The collision caused two carriages to plummet from the bridge onto the road beneath.

One person died. The German news agency dpa did not name the fatality in the accident, which occurred in the city of Munich. The reason for the crash remained unclear.

The goods carriages dropped approximately 16 feet from the bridge, dpa reported. Munich police confirmed the road under the bridge had been shut and advised motorists to steer clear of the vicinity while recovery and clean-up work continued.

According to dpa, the derailed goods carriages were empty and posed no danger to public safety.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.
