20-year-old footballer dies after deer smashed through car windscreen | Football
Polish footballer Oskar Kordus has died after a deer smashed through the windscreen of his car in a freak accident.
The 20-year-old was driving between Krajewice and Grabonóg when an oncoming car hit a deer and sent the animal flying into his BMW travelling in the opposite direction.
The roe deer smashed through the windscreen of Kordus’s car, which then left the road and rolled into a ditch.
The driver of the Volkswagen that initially hit the deer was unhurt, local authorities confirmed, while they attempted to treat Kordus at the scene.

The State Fire Service in Gostyń confirmed in a statement: ‘Upon arrival at the scene and examination, it was determined that one of the injured persons had no vital signs.
‘The other person involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries. Firefighters began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
‘After the Emergency Medical Services Team arrived, medical procedures continued.
‘Vital signs were restored, and the injured person was transported by air ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Poznań.’
The accident took place at 6am on Monday, but it was confirmed at 10.30pm on Monday that Kordus had died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, confirmed Polish publication Przeglad Sportowy.

The 20-year-old played for Kania Gostyn in the fourth tier of Polish football and they confirmed the tragic news with ‘disbelief’ in the shocking accident.
‘With great sadness and disbelief we accepted the news of the death of our player, Oskar Kordus,’ the club posted.
‘On behalf of the entire community of Kani Gosty W, we express our deepest condolences to Oskar’s Family, Relatives and all Friends. In these extremely difficult moments, we connect with you in pain and are in our thoughts and hearts with you.
‘Rest in peace Oskar.’
Kordus moved to Kani Gostyn from Korona Piaski, with his former club adding: ‘Yesterday, in tragic circumstances, Oskar Kordus left us.
‘He was a product of our club from his earliest years. Rest in peace.’
