Xbox bosses urged to bring back exclusive console games and ditch PS5 blockbusters

Fans were asked via a new feedback platform what they want to see the popular gaming firm do in the future and the answer was to stop giving its best titles to its rival

Xbox bosses are being urged to bring back exclusive console games as part if its rebrand.

Fans were asked via a new feedback platform what they want to see the popular gaming firm do in the future.

And the overwhelming response was a return to ‘exclusives’ that can only be played via Xbox consoles after a recent shift by the company to put its titles out on Playstations too.

Earlier this month, it was reported that new Xbox boss Asha Sharma was “treading carefully” as she worked out what to do with exclusive games.

Some flagship Xbox and Bethesda titles have been natively ported to PlayStation 5 in recent months, including race game Forza Horizon 5 and action hit Sea of Thieves.

Sharma, who replaced Phil Spencer as boss of Xbox earlier this year, has spent her first few months in the job making a number of significant changes as Microsoft works to win back the hearts and minds of its core gaming fans.

And bosses are now closely monitoring player feedback via the newly-launched Xbox Player Voice portal, where gamers can have their say.

The Reddit-like forum allows users to quickly share their thoughts.

The most boosted comment to date by thousands of gamers asks for “EXCLUSIVES”, explaining “XBOX was built off of great game exclusives” and underlining selling consoles is harder “without a reason to buy the console compared to your competition”.

It added: “BRING THEM BACK PLEASE!!!”

“If you really care about Xbox, you have to bring back exclusives,” one person added.

Another said: “Xbox needs to have its exclusive games to differentiate itself from the competition. Exclusives work for Sony and Nintendo, so why would it be different for Xbox?”

Other top requests on the feedback platform reflect community concern going back years.

Backwards compatibility is right up there, as is making online multiplayer free to access.

Another high-ranking request is for an achievement list to have a separate category for its DLC, so if you’ve got all the achievements for a game and it gets more via DLC, your 100% will remain.

And there’s the request for an Xbox Game Pass family plan to share your access to the subscription service with members of the family.
