Beat Apple’s price on travel gadget ‘brilliant’ for this one reason
Thanks to a new feature it’s also 50% louder than Apple’s older AirTag
Apple’s latest AirTag is currently available for less than the price charged by the Apple Store, making it a good time to pick up the popular travel gadget for less. Shoppers have described it as ‘brilliant’ for helping keep track of luggage, keys and other everyday essentials.
It is now priced at £84.55, down from £99 on Amazon. The AirTag can be attached to suitcases, backpacks, keys or wallets and tracked through Apple’s Find My app, offering extra peace of mind when travelling or simply keeping tabs on valuable belongings. The latest AirTag works with the Find My network, allowing users to locate important items directly from their iPhone.
Expanded Precision Finding now works with both iPhone and Apple Watch, offering step-by-step directions to help pinpoint misplaced belongings with greater accuracy. Apple has also upgraded the speaker, making it 50% louder than before with a new distinctive chime that’s easier to hear.

Improved Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth technology means tagged items can be found from even further away. If an item is lost, location access can be shared temporarily and securely with trusted contacts, third parties or more than 50 airline partners.
The AirTag also lasts for more than a year on a standard replaceable battery, while only authorised users can view its location. Apple has also made the latest model more sustainable, using 85% recycled plastic in the enclosure and 100% fibre-based packaging.

There are a variety of others on the market too, for example, the Samsung SmartTag2 in white for £24.49 from Argos. This one is compatible with Galaxy devices with Android OS 9 and has ‘intuitive finding’ features.
Over at Currys there is the Groov-E My Tag Smart Tracker – Pack of 3 for £49.99. Compatible with the Apple Find My app, it has a built-in buzzer that simply sounds an alarm to hunt down lost items when needed.
The Apple AirTag has been rated highly, as one user said: “Brilliant for keeping an eye on the location of your luggage when travelling.” Another added: “Great! Can not just find the location of the keys, it will also guide you to them inside the property. Losing my keys the other week and getting them back. This is a great product.”
Another person wrote: “Decided to upgrade after listening to what the experts were saying and am more than pleased with the results, and yes, there is a marked difference in the accuracy and finding your lost item. Do believe it’s iPhones only that it works with, though.”
Some people removed a star as one person said: “I am not getting accurate tracking sometimes.” Another added: “These do indeed seem an improvement over the first-gen ones with better close-quarters location. I wish the sound were a bit louder, though, and I wish they would put a battery level in Find My. I have several non Apple trackers, they eat through batteries, the Apple tags seem to last longer.”
