DJI Agras T55 Drone Brings Heavy Payloads and Radar-Guided Awareness to Precision Farm Work

DJI Agras T55 Farming Industrial Drone
Modern farms juggle tight labor pools, irregular terrain, and the push for exact input placement. DJI built the Agras T55 to ease that load with a single platform that handles spraying, spreading, seeding, and lifting while adding stronger awareness tools than earlier models in the line.

Capacity numbers reveal a significant increase in capabilities, as a 50-liter tank supplies the spraying mechanism. The standard dual centrifugal nozzles push liquid at a steady 40 liters per minute, and the optional four-nozzle mist setup adds an extra 10 liters per minute, but with adjustable droplet sizes ranging from 50 to 500 microns, you can tailor the output to suit whatever crop you’re working on, whether it’s still growing or fully mature. The effective spray width is also customizable, ranging from 4 to 11 meters depending on how high you fly it and the parameters you have in place.

Keeping the task simple is also crucial, so the spreading hopper contains 80 liters and can easily handle a 55-kilogram load of fertilizer or seed. A precise screw feeder ensures that everything flows smoothly and evenly, and the discharge rates are rather astounding, reaching 400 kg per minute. This means you can empty an entire bag of material in seconds with each pass. With a ten-meter-wide spread, you can get the job done fast across open land, and it’s not only spreading; the lift mechanism can hold up to 40 kg of goods such as tools or supplies, allowing you to work easily even on sloping terrain. Not to fear, the automated balancing control will keep the load steady even on gusty days, until you need to let go, at which point an emergency cable release is only a click away. A built-in auto-weighing mechanism maintains track of the amount of material you move on each journey.

Upgrades to the sensing systems allow you to work with greater confidence and accuracy. The new millimeter wave radar generates a super-dense grid of points per second, giving you a remarkably clear image of what’s going on. Even if rain or fog try to get in the way, the improved algorithms and hardware keep going, with dependable detection regardless of the conditions. Plus, logged obstacles are saved for later so your drone can learn from them and steer clear the next time, and you can expect it will pay extra attention to thin threats such as power lines. To fill in the gaps, three top-mounted cameras collaborate with a low-light full-color FPV camera to provide a comprehensive picture of the region from above, below, to the sides, and in front. This allows for both seamless autonomous operation and consistent pilot oversight, even in challenging conditions.

In the real world, small details make all the difference. The airframe unfolds into a great big square of 3.2 by 3.6 meters, but it also folds up nicely to fit into a small container with carry handles, allowing you to transport it in one go. With a regular battery and full tank, the ready-to-fly weight is approximately 45 kilograms, and you’re ready to go in seconds. With a maximum takeoff weight of up to 104 kilograms depending on the systems on board, you may lift off and complete the task with confidence.

DJI Agras T55 Farming Industrial Drone
By combining all four jobs into a single airframe, the $17,000 – $20,000 Agras T55 saves you a significant amount of money on equipment changeover and frequent field excursions. Better sensing technologies and consistent flight paths ensure that sprays and granules are always precisely placed, resulting in less material waste and a healthier crop. It’s also ready to take on whatever comes next on the calendar.
