Premier League star to undergo Chelsea medical today ahead of £52m move
Chelsea are finalising a move for Crystal Palace star Maxence Lacroix with the defender set to undergo his medical today.
Lacroix signalled his intention to leave Selhurst Park at the end of last season with Chelsea quickly moving to the front of the queue for his services.
Talks have progressed quickly over the last week with the France international now poised to complete a £52million move across the capital.
The Athletic report he will undergo final medical tests on Friday with official confirmation expected soon.
Chelsea have been keen to enlist the services of another centre-half to start alongside Levi Colwill this season.
Lacroix’s arrival means the futures of Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah and Mamadou Sarr could be uncertain.
Palace are in talks to sign Axel Disasi from the Blues in a deal separate to the one taking Lacroix to west London.
Disasi has not played for Chelsea since as far back as January 2025, when he came on as a substitute in a 3-1 win over Wolves.
The 28-year-old France international went on to join Aston Villa on loan the following month, before spending the second half of last season at West Ham.
Disasi has three years remaining on his current contract in west London.
Chelsea this week confirmed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, joining the club in a record-breaking £117million deal.
The club have also made a bid for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott with Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in the England international.
Chelsea’s £64m bid was rejected by the Cherries but Scott is believed to be open to the move if a fee can be agreed.
