Manchester City are making an effort to swoop for Everton midfielder Iliman Ndiaye and hijack Tottenham’s bid for the Senegal international in the process.

Spurs had been exploring a move that could take Ndiaye to London and see Richarlison make a return to Everton, but City are now looking to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.

However, sources now indicate doubts over Tottenham’s interest in Ndiaye.

David Ornstein reports that Cody Gakpo – contrary to previous speculation – is in fact going nowhere, with his shock move to Manchester City falling through.

Enzo Maresca’s side reportedly had a bid of £75m plus add-ons rejected, leaving City to accelerate their pursuit of Enzo Fernandez instead.
