Xiaomi’s CyberOne Humanoid Robots Finish a Full 8-Hour Factory Shift Sorting Car Panels

Xiaomi Humanoid Robot Auto Factory 8-Hour Shift
Xiaomi released video on November 3 showing two full-size humanoid robots finishing an eight hour and five minute stretch of work inside its auto factory. The machines, identified in some reports as CyberOne 02 units with one in black and one in white, handled the center console side cover sorting station in the final assembly area. They pulled large flexible panels from bulk bins, turned them into the correct orientation, and slotted each one into a rack matching the sequence of cars moving down the line.

Factory floors are never static, as autonomous mobile robots strutted in with boxes of fresh materials, forcing the humanoids to change their gait and stride to allow them to pass, all while waiting for the carts to be swapped out. Xiaomi claims that the robots identified faults on their own, corrected material placement errors or deviations, and remained in sync with the production line control system throughout. Although one panel fell to the floor later in the day, a wheel-mounted machine simply rolled over and picked it up, allowing the station to continue operating.

Xiaomi’s previous moves were much shorter and more confined. Back in March, a single robot was able to spend three hours installing self-tapping nuts at a Beijing plant, achieving an amazing 90.2% success rate with a cycle time of 76 seconds. By July, that same robot had improved to a 98% accuracy rate and had begun to take on the sorting and box folding stations. CEO Lei Jun described the eight-hour run as an internship, a test run to evaluate if the hardware and software could withstand a full production day.

There aren’t much details on the power side. The video shows the clock stopping to recharge after about three hours and two minutes, and then again after six hours and three minutes of labor. Xiaomi has not revealed how the robots charge, so we don’t know if they plug in, swap packs, or how long each stop lasts. We also don’t know how many panels were relocated, how frequently a human had to step in, or what percentage of placements were successful throughout the shift. The business describes this run as just another step toward integrating all of these robots into their factories within five years, and the same model has already been tested conducting household duties in staff apartments.
